Privacy
In effect since November 3, 2026.
BirthMirror is a non-commercial project, built to know as little about you as possible. Your birth date never leaves your device.
Who runs this site
The controller is Jiří Sobotka, Czech Republic. You can write to ….
Your birth date
Everything is calculated in your browser. Your date is not sent to any server, it is not in the page address, and the visitor statistics never get it either.
So your result shows up again next time, your browser remembers the date. You can delete it with the “Forget my date” link under the form.
What servers learn about your visit
Our host (Vercel Inc., USA), like for any website, sees your IP address and browser type and keeps them briefly in operational logs for security and running the site. It transfers data to the USA under the EU rules for data transfers.
Visitor statistics (GoatCounter, servers in Germany and Finland, operated from Ireland) count page views and the use of features, such as “someone shared an image”. They use no cookies, don't store your IP address or full browser identification, and don't track you across websites; the IP address is only used briefly to estimate your country. The year in the address of the “Famous people born in …” pages is never recorded. They never get your birth date, your age or your twin's name.
The small photos of famous people are served by our own site. The large photo for a share image is loaded by your browser from Wikimedia Commons only when you tap Share — so Wikimedia sees your IP address and which photo you want.
Links to Wikipedia and to Google and Outlook calendars open other services with their own rules.
The legal basis is legitimate interest: running the site securely and knowing which features people use.
Sharing
Sharing is always up to you, and you see what goes out before you send it. With a little effort, your birth date can be worked out from a twin image and the day you share it, and above all from a milestone's date — the share panel always tells you.
The “Do it for a friend” link carries the date only after the # sign. Browsers never send that part of an address to a server.
Cookies and browser storage
We use no advertising or tracking cookies, which is why there is no consent banner. Your browser only remembers your own choices: your birth date, light or dark mode, the language (in a small cookie, so the site opens in the right language) and, on an iPhone, that you closed the Home Screen tip.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct and erase your data, to object, and to complain to a data protection authority (in the Czech Republic, uoou.gov.cz). But we store nothing about you personally, so there is usually nothing to hand over or delete; the host's operational logs expire on their own.
